Since Java One last year the Java landscape has changed dramatically for Java developers. A new release cadence of 6 months, a new long term support release model from Oracle, Java Client deployment model shifting from Applets/Webstart to self contained applications deployed with the VM built in. In this talk Andy will discuss the various changes and attempt to unravel what this means in practice for developers moving forward.
Andy has worked for Sun/Oracle for 18 years working as a pre-sales technical engineer talking about Java in embedded and enterprise systems.
Before that he worked for the Real-Time operating system company Wind River Systems as pre-sales engineer.
He holds a BSc Hons. in Computer Science from Staffordshire University. In his spare time he enjoys Scuba Diving, Cycling and drinking Real Ale.

Kubernetes From Behind the Curtain
Talk details:
Kubernetes has taken the software delivery world by storm. While not about Java directly, this talk will go over some of the key parts of the landscape that may be of interest to Java developers as workloads get moved to this new world.
Speaker Bio:
Ian worked in the full lifecycle of online gambling backend systems for 15 years before moving to Barclays, where he now manages OpenShift clusters that run lots of JVMs. He writes books on things like Git, Bash, Docker and Terraform, and keeps a blog at zwischenzugs.com
