The Java Roadmap - Andy Gilbert
Since Java One last year the Java landscape has changed dramatically for Java developers. A new release cadence of 6 months, a new long term support release model from Oracle, Java Client deployment model shifting from Applets/Webstart to self contained applications deployed with the VM built in. In this talk Andy will discuss the various changes and attempt to unravel what this means in practice for developers moving forward.
Andy has worked for Sun/Oracle for 18 years working as a pre-sales technical engineer talking about Java in embedded and enterprise systems.
Before that he worked for the Real-Time operating system company Wind River Systems as pre-sales engineer.
He holds a BSc Hons. in Computer Science from Staffordshire University. In his spare time he enjoys Scuba Diving, Cycling and drinking Real Ale.
