Manufacturers and engineering companies, there’s a big opportunity for you to maximise profits.
How?
By equipping your team members with data science skills.
Why is data science important right now? - Operational costs are increasing - Competition from overseas is fierce - Finding the right talent can be expensive
So, it’s important that UK businesses find ways to operate more efficiently and be more competitive.
This is exactly why we’re hosting a free online event to give you insight into the latest tools available.
Specifically, we’ll show you how technology can be used to increase product quality, output and profitability.
We’ll also share information about some 90% funded data science bootcamps that you might be eligible for.
Why attend?
An intensive, empowering learning experience tailore to you.
Insights on strategic impact for your organisation.
Understand Technology Adoption. Bridge the gap between complex tech solutions and practical applications...

A MAZE. / Sheffield is a video game and playful media event, that is bringing together international and local artists to share their experimental and alternative video games. It's an event that defies definition to be honest - it's a video game convention, it's a rave, it's an industry get-together, it's a creative space, all at once!
An excuse for a wee Friday night catch up over a beer or two. Note the venue is unlicenced, but you can BYOB (bring your own beer - it's encouraged!), though there are free teas and coffees too.
All welcome, from complete beginners to the more experienced users.
Come learn about what projects we've been working on or new technology we've been experimenting with.
Glasgow 2600 meetings are similar to those held around the world. Hackers, crackers, geeks, hats of any colour, technology enthusiasts, hacktivists, and other like-minded folks are most welcome. We do not judge anyone and everyone has something to contribute, no matter their level of expertise.
This coding workshop is designed for underrepresented genders in tech of any age with little to no coding experience. You will be coached in small groups throughout the day and lunch will be provided.
What to expect from this workshop:
- Interactive sessions coding a simple web app
- Hands-on coding exercises
- Networking opportunities with other women, girls and non-binary people already working in tech and wanting to work in tech
- Guidance and mentorship from industry professionals
This is an in-person event in Kelham Island, Sheffield and is sponsored by Pendo.
In an afternoon, build and take home your very own robot, that you can control with your phone.

People of all abilities are welcome to drop by for a chat and work on their projects using our variety of equipment in our friendly space.
We're planning to try some of the beginner/intermediate war games from OverTheWire.org
Leviathan
This wargame doesn't require any knowledge about programming - just a bit of common sense and some knowledge about basic *nix commands. We had no idea that it'd be this hard to make an interesting wargame that wouldn't require programming abilities from the players. Hopefully we made an interesting challenge for the new ones.
Natas
Natas teaches the basics of serverside web-security.
Krypton
The Krypton wargame features encryption and ciphers.
The games start easily, but get complex quickly - so those that already know their way around will get a challenge too.
This is a great event to get to know everyone, you can work through the levels at your own pace, or just help out others that are stuck. We'll also talk you through the solutions to help beginners learn.
We're being hosted in The Gamer Club, so there is free tea and coffee, or you are welcome to bring in your own...
A guided exploration of the Linux server command line.
Aimed at absolute beginners. We'll show how to securely connect to a server then we'll work through Bandit, an adventure game set in the command line that progresses step-by-step from the basics to common programs and beyond.
This will be an in-person event in the quiet lounge of the newly open The Gamer Club, on Bath Lane next door to The Buff Club.
I'll work through the challenges on the big screen and explain what I'm doing as well all work together though the levels. Join in and play along or feel free to work on your own through the advanced war games and someone there should be able to assist you if needed.

This event will show you how to get started creating basic 3D games. It will be more of a workshop format - I'll demo on a big screen and you'll be able to work alongside me as we show the ins and outs of the software and it's scripting language, GDScript, which is quite similar to Python.
We'll try to build a replica of Wolfenstein 3D from scratch.
Learn to build and code a soundboard you can re-program with your own samples.
A six part course for novice sewers taking you from the basics to following commercial garment patterns.

Summer is always a quieter time for businesses, even startups. While we prepare a new and exciting format for September’s event we will be running the startup meetup as an informal social networking event.
Founders at every stage of the journey join us month in, month out to learn and meet fellow founders. Whether you’re a new founder looking for inspiration and advice or a seasoned veteran looking for community and support, join us for a few drinks at the ‘Summer Startup Social’.
If you’re looking for our usual mix of panel discussions, founder interviews and group thought experiments, join us in September when we return with our refreshed format!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Are you interested in data analytics in the Microsoft ecosystem and beyond? Do you want to learn new skills, share your insights, and network with other data enthusiasts?
If so, join us for our bi-monthly Sheffield based data analytics user group, where we discuss topics related to data analysis and engineering, visualisation, and data science using MS Fabric, Power BI, Microsoft Azure tools and services and more.
Our user group is open to anyone who wants to learn more about data analytics, whether you are a beginner or an expert. We meet every last Wednesday every other month in Sheffield at Electric Works, close to the central train and bus stations. Each meeting features a mix of presentations by guest speakers, Q&A sessions and, a chance to chat, network and grab some (free) food.
We’re keen to keep a local element to the group so if you have your own projects, challenges or ideas to share through anything from a short lightening talk to a full hour-long session we’d love...
