Scotland Data Science & Technology MeetUp: Aberdeen Feb 2020 Data Meetup

Tonight we have a special event which we are co-hosting with ScotlandIS's Data Cluster.

As always we will have pizza, beer and networking from 6.30pm, then we have three speakers:

Speaker 1 Katy Guthrie - "A brief intro to ScotlandIS Data Cluster. "

Katy is Head of Data at ScotlandIS. She runs ScotlandISData which is designed to assist companies supplying data driven products or services within Scotland. By understanding and mapping out the industry, Katy aims to identify and address the needs of the data tech sector, foster collaboration, and both demonstrate and grow the depth and breadth of capability within Scotland. Prior to leading ScotlandISData, Katy worked in a variety of data and analytics roles within Financial Services.

Speaker 2 - Chris Ayres. "OPEX - supplying data science services to the Oil & Gas industry"

Chris is Chief Operating Officer for OPEX Group, a leading provider of data science and predictive analysis services for the oil and gas industry. A chartered engineer with two decades experience in the oil and gas sector, Chris has a diverse background of leadership experience in management consulting and digital project delivery. Chris has worked with large multi-national organisations across many sectors, leading and advising them through digital transformation projects. As COO of OPEX Group, Chris is focused on helping oil and gas operating companies to maximise the value of their operational data through the application of predictive technologies and data science.

Speaker 3 - Katie Wilde "Using safe haven data and HPCC"

Katie is the Digital Research Services Manager at University of Aberdeen, with a remit of supporting Researchers with their digital needs. She has been a key player in setting up the Grampian Safe Haven (DaSH) within Aberdeen and securing ISO27001 certification for this service. She is the Safe Haven’s Technical and Data Management Lead and holds an Honorary Contract with NHS Grampian. Katie heads up three teams; High Performance Computing Centre, Digital Research Specialists and the Grampian Data Safe Haven DaSH Technical Team.

She is also a Course Coordinator for Health Informatics module which is part of the Masters in Public Health at the University and lectures on several data topics.
