Sheffield JS: Workshop: Asking about gender

This month Chad (@kitation) will be helping us build better and more inclusive services on the web with a 1 hour workshop - afterwards, we'll head to the Rutland Arms to socialize and talk JavaScript!

---

Asking About Gender: A workshop to inform developers, designers and project managers about how to provide services for transgender and non-binary users. At the end of the workshop participants will understand:

- Basic terms such as transgender, gender binary, intersex and cisgender
- How the Equality Act covers gender and gender reassignment
- When it is and is not appropriate to ask users about gender
- The UX of gender fields on forms, and how to design them in an inclusive way

All activities are paper-based so no laptop required. It should take around 60 minutes.
