The Future of Work Scotland team are delighted to be bringing you a session with the author of the newly published "Designing for Behavioural Change" by Stephen Wendel.
Organisations all around the world are applying behavioural science to nudge their users to act differently. They help people overcome behavioural obstacles in diverse areas – from exercise and dieting to learning new job skills. While these efforts very widely in focus, the approach each group takes is remarkably similar. After years of experimentation and learning in the field, practitioners have effectively developed a blueprint for behavioural design.
In this talk, you’ll learn that blueprint: You’ll see, step-by-step, how to work with product teams and designers that seek to help users take action. Along the way, you’ll see how organisations from Spotify to Walmart are doing exactly that, and about the tremendous opportunities, and risks, the field faces.

Here's some background on our amazing guest speakers for this session:
Dr. Wendel is a behavioural scientist who studies financial behavioural and how digital products can help individuals manage their money more effectively. He serves as Head of Behavioural Science at Morningstar, where he leads a team of behavioural scientists and practitioners to conduct original research on saving and investment behavioural. Stephen has authored three books on applied behavioural science (Designing for Behavioural Change, Improving Employee Benefits, and Spiritual Design) and he founded the non-profit Action Design Network. He has two wonderful kids, who don’t care about behavioural science at all.
