Start your seasonal celebrations early and join us for the Sheffield Digital Annual General Meetup (AGM).
So much has happened over the past 12 months in Sheffield's digital ecosystem and we'd love you to join us for a celebration.
Our AGM is an opportunity for our members and the wider digital community to get together, to reflect on and celebrate your successes, to share information and say thank you. We're extremely excited to share some of our achievements, which simply would not be possible without your support.
All of this plus great food, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and good company.
The schedule for the night
5.30pm - Arrival at Workstation, hot food served at 6pm with tea, coffee and water. Cash bar available to purchase drinks.
6.45pm - Presentations, interviews, celebrations and more. (More details to come...)
8.00pm - Close
Ticket price
This year we are proudly supporting the Good Things Foundation through our AGM and are therefore asking members of Sheffield's digital community to pay £5 (plus Eventbrite booking fee) for a ticket. All proceeds made from ticket sales will go to this brilliant local charity.
We do understand that times are tough right now and our priority is welcoming as many members of the Sheffield digital community to the AGM as possible. So, if you cannot pay, there are a limited number of free tickets available.
We're looking forward to seeing you soon; please ask Sarah Lister or Emma Marshall if you have any questions.
PS We want to make our events as inclusive as possible.
We'd appreciate you abiding by the Sheffield Digital Code of Conduct on the night.
We'd like to take photographs of the event, so please let us know if you would not like to appear.
We're happy for you to bring along children of an age that don't need to be supervised.
If you would like to arrange a car share, need a lift, share a taxi or would like a buddy to walk across town please let us know.
If you have any other additional needs you would like help with please contact emma@sheffield.digital
This month: Help to Grow: Management - Driving growth through innovation
Are you too busy working in your business rather than on it? Do you have a clear value proposition?
In this session Dr Alexandra Anderson will share different practical tools used on the Help to Grow: Management course to support small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in achieving their growth ambitions.
Learn how students can also support you in unlocking innovation potential and help achieve your business growth goals through free projects and short-term placements. Did you know all our students undertake projects for organisations, covering a range of areas from marketing to engineering?
Alex is the Programme Director for the 90% government funded Help to Grow: Management course at Sheffield Business School, Sheffield Hallam University supporting SME leaders across South Yorkshire. Over the past three years Alex and the team have worked with over 200 SMEs on business growth activity. She also leads on free student consultancy projects for companies seeking to expand internationally. Previous experience includes creating her own research consultancy and a mobile gaming company.
We're pleased to announce that Sheffield Digital's Annual General Meet-up is back!
This is a chance for all our members (individual and company) and supporters to get together, look back over the past year, help us plan for the future and enjoy some great food and conversation.
It's also for Sheffield Digital to thank everyone for their support.
This is as much your event as it is ours and we'd love the community to be a major part of it by taking to the stage for lots of lightning talks. We want the whole community to be represented so please register your interest (via your email invite) and we'll announce who will be speaking nearer the date. So if you want to tell us about an exciting project you're working on, an amazing idea for a new business venture, a cause that you're passionate about, or an event you'd like to run next year, or something you've created that you're so proud of - we'd love to hear all about it.
The schedule for the night
5.45pm - Arrival at Workstation, welcome non-alcoholic drink and nibbles. (+ cash bar available to purchase drinks)
6.00pm - 7.15pm - Presentations and lightning talks from our members.
7.15pm onwards - buffet served, opportunities to share feedback and network.
Nibbles and a non alcoholic drink on arrival will be provided, plus a full buffet after the talks with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options (please let us know about any food allergies). There will also be a cash bar you can use throughout the night.
This is our "thank-you" event for members and supporters so we'll be picking up the tab. To make sure we order correctly and don't contribute to food waste, please ensure you keep us informed if any last minute changes mean you can't make the event and need to cancel your ticket.
Individual members have 1 free ticket.
Company members and Sponsors/partners have 2 free tickets.
Additional tickets are priced at £16.50 to cover costs.
If you're not a current member then please join up and then get your ticket! It's just £5 per month for individual members, and a little bit more for companies, depending on size. https://sheffield.digital/membership/

Do you use coding in your business? Are you familiar with visual programming language?
Visual programming allows programs to be treated as visual objects. Compared with traditional text based code, visualisations allow the relationships and dependencies in the code, and between the code and its output.
You're invited to this two day workshop (12th & 19th April) that will review existing approaches and research methods of visual programming to assess their value. The workshop is run by the Sheffield Innovation Programme with academic experts from the Communication and Computing Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University, and the University of Sheffield.
The workshop is relevant to anyone that is familiar with the complexity of coding or professionals that will be using coding soon within business, professional developers looking for new ways of coding and trainers needing methods to make coding easier.

This will be a great opportunity to find out about the current digital hub initiatives, and ask questions of those involved in bringing them about.
The format of the evening will be a round-table discussion group made up of invited guests who who represent the key initiatives, and an open audience who will witness the debate, and have the opportunity to ask questions and participate.
