This month we'll have a look at mapping in Drupal by using OpenLayers and OpenStreetMap - if we have time we'll look at producing your own maps with TileMill.
We'll also have a roundup of latest developments in Drupal, opportunity for lightning talks... then meetup for beer and food afterwards in the Duke's Corner
We'll have a roundup of latest developments in Drupal, a headline presentation (details tbc - maybe mapping with OpenLayers or importing sites using Migrate), opportunity for lightning talks... then meetup for beer and food afterwards
Core issue sprint to help Drupal 8 achieve formal release. Learn how to write core Drupal code and how to give back to the community.
Everyone is welcome; if you have built a site in Drupal, you can contribute. For new folks: you can get a head start also by making an account on Drupal.org and taking a look at the Drupal Ladder http://drupalladder.org/
We will have a brief introduction, then split into pairs and work on Drupal core issues. We'll select a variety of issues beforehand - some don't require any coding experience.
- Bring your laptop + PSU.
- If possible, install Git (http://git-scm.com/downloads/) before coming
- git clone Drupal 8 core (more info at http://drupalmentoring.org/sprint)
- You might find installing an IDE (eg, Netbeans or Eclipse) useful.
- Sign up at https://groups.drupal.org/node/314913
Note that DrupalCon (https://prague2013.drupal.org/) is in Prague the following week.

This month, we'll have a main presentation on using Git with Drupal - how to apply patches etc. John Hume will lead it, but if anyone has other useful experience with Git feel free to chip in. We'll also have the usual roundup of news, jobs etc. I'll put a Lightning Talk together on using Drupal in different environments (dev, staging etc): other volunteers welcome.
Will head to Braes Bar afterwards for a wee chat.
Full details tbc, but we'll attempt to fix one of more critical issues for Drupal 8. Hopefully we'll have an introduction to Git before attempting to fix something. To make the most of our time, you may want check out Drupal

This month, we'll have a main presentation (possibly on managing a large Drupal-powered enterprise), a roundup of recent news and a slot for lightning talks. A brief piece on Drupal's new theme engine: Twig.
Before heading off to the pub, we'll also discuss the future of the meetings, time, day of week, location, structure to see if it's meeting everybody's needs.
The first meeting of the Dundee Drupal User Group kicks off on Tuesday 21st May, in room 1G10 in the Dalhousie Building (http://www.dundee.ac.uk/general/campusguide/virtualtour/dalhousie/).
The room's available from 6.30pm, with the main event kicking off at 7pm:
- Summary of what's happening on Planet Drupal right now
- Main Presentation (tbc)
- Lightning Talks - 5 minute slots for anyone to demo anything cool and interesting they've stumbled across recently.
- Pub
We have the room in the Dalhousie Building until 9pm, and will probably adjourn to Duke's Corner (http://www.dukescorner.co.uk/) for beer and chat afterwards. More details to follow over next few weeks.
All are welcome - especially those who are new to Drupal or want to find out anything about getting started. As with Drupal, the event is free... just please signup so we know who's coming.
