Join this AI for Good project that aims at combatting climate misinformation and the spread of climate-related fake news. Problem statement: most people accept climate change as real, however, they don't take action to challenge the misinformation about it.
To solve this problem, we aim is to build a tool that would help people identify articles and posts about climate change that are not scientifically accurate or deliberately misleading. This tool (possibly in the form of a plugin or something more mobile-friendly) would be available in any browser and will flag arguments against climate change and provide the reader with scientifically reviewed facts.
As the project moves forward, we realize how much impact it could have in fighting misinformation and greenwashing in things that we read online. So we truly need as many hands as possible to help us with different tasks from product design to building web scrapers and training an algorithm that can spot climate misinformation online.
We are looking for volunteers with the following skills:
- Data Science / Data Engineering (data scrapers, classifiers, NLP)
- Backend and Front End Software Engineering (plugins, mobile apps)
- Climate change science (climate facts, denial tactics, inoculation)
- Marketing specialists (consumer behavior, go-to-market strategy)
- Website developers and content writers
- We also need strong team leaders!
You doN'T need to have any specific professional experience. Your motivation to explore and make progress by doing is more than enough.

As the project moves forward, we are realising the big impact it could actually have, and that is really really exciting. However, we are also realising that we truly need as many hands as possible to help and that there are certain skills we currently do not have in the team!
Our aim is still to build a tool in order to help people identify articles about climate change that are not scientifically accurate or simply not true. This tool, called Climate Battle Cards, will be in the form of a plug-in that would be available to install in any browser and that will flag those arguments against climate change that are not accurate and provide the reader with scientifically reviewed counter-arguments.
We are looking for volunteers to help us in any of the following areas.
- Climate change research
- Marketing
- Product
- Data Science / Data Engineering
- Backend and Front End Software Support
- UX/UI Design
Furthermore, we are now creating new teams for organisational purposes, which means we are also looking for team leaders! See this document for more info on the teams: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NiJkhbZkgGmP9ONsF8RyDivzqC8Ty6BLawENDEQLEko/edit#heading=h.1a6pv57slern
You DON'T need to have any academic or professional experience in order to help! It’s sufficient with motivation and will to learn!
It is, honestly, a really fun project that has great potential. So if you are interested in climate change, or if you want to build your experience in Data Science and add a cool project to your portfolio or if you are simply looking for a fun side-project please do join the meet-up on Wednesday.
Please find more information on this leaflet: https://bit.ly/3uQ8QEk

New! AI for Good Meetup - AI Coach to Develop Skills for the Future
Description changed:
This project seeks to develop a tool that would help to accelerate and simplify the adaptation of the workforce for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The tool, in the form of an AI coach, would be an end-to-end talent reskilling platform that automates talent skill mapping, identifies future skill needs, and bridges the two by finding personalised critical paths for reskilling and real job opportunities.
We would utilize machine learning technology to analyse every person’s skill pool and potential, against the labour market of the future. The aim is to find the quickest and most cost-efficient way for every person’s professional development. Moreover, lowering entry barriers to training and education would benefit the less educated, women, ethnic minorities and young people, who are particularly exposed to unemployment in the face of the decline of lower-wage occupations. Whilst our jobs can be replaceable or redundant, the people behind them are capable of evolution, adaptation and co-creation of the 'new consumer economy, focused on eradicating poverty, eliminating biases and closing the wealth gap all over the world.
A World Economic Forum report estimates that by 2025, 85 million jobs may be displaced by machines, but 97 million new roles may emerge due to a new dynamic between people and technology. The need to continually refresh skills and stay relevant for the future of work is at the top of the agenda for everyone from individuals to Fortune 500 companies.
We are looking for passionate volunteers to help us in any of the following areas:
- Product
- Data Science / Data Engineering
- Backend and Front End Software Support
- UX/UI Design

AI for Good Meetup - Data to Combat Violence and Abuse in Relationships
Description changed:
This is a meetup to focus on data and technology-based solutions, aiming to combat violence and abuse in relationships.
In recent months we contacted, interviewed, and ran workshops alongside Charities large and small. It has become very apparent that the resources for support towards people in abusive relationships is very fragmented.
We believe in an idea to build a complete service, that has victims and survivors at its core, making available all relevant information and putting them in directly contact with the appropriate support network according to the stage of their journey. They could simply need reassurance to make a positive decision, may need legal help, need shelter or financial support. It will also consider their background or whether they are from marginalised groups - such as LGBTQI and or migrant women.
Our mission is to support with the help of data and tech whoever is in an abusive relationship knowing there are tools, services, and groups they can connect to. This is without forgetting the role technology itself can play as a tool for abuse, so, among others, we face the challenge to build a support platform that is secure, safe, invisible, and anonymised.
To do so, we would like to invite YOU to provide input and collaborate on a pilot project with the following skills:
- Digital Marketing and SEO Experts
- Designers
- Developers
- Data Analysts
- Data Scientist
- Data Engineers
- Academic Researchers
If you have those skills or know anyone has - please join and invite your friends to this meetup by sharing this page link with them. Furthermore, we welcome people from all backgrounds as long as they are passionate to collaborate and use their skills for the greater good.

Join this AI for Good project that aims at combatting climate misinformation and the spread of climate-related fake news.
Please find more information on this leaflet: https://bit.ly/3uQ8QEk - which highlights our need for marketers and designers!
Or simply join our slack and ping a message on #climate-misinformation channel: http://bit.ly/2p8icye - there you can ask us about anything!

AI for Good Meetup - Data to Combat Domestic Abuse and Violence
Description changed:
This is a special edition meetup focused on data gathering and analytics to combat domestic abuse and violence.
Over recent months, thanks to an experienced charity worker, we got in contact with big and small charities and noticed how they produce and collect data but don’t know how to make the most out of it (such as providing better and more support to those experiencing abuse, being more efficient, fundraising, etc.). So, we agreed we would find possible ways to put charities in contact with data experts as well as researchers in academia.
