TechUG is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event and community experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. TechUG participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the community and banned from all future community events.
TechUG - the IT Pro Community exists to provide networking and knowledge sharing for IT architects, developers, engineers & managers. We incorporate individual user group themes including Virtualisation, Storage, Datacentre and Open Source. Each user group has its own community headed up by an IT Pro chairman at each of our locations across the UK.
Our independence from vendors and resellers enables the membership to come together, freely share experiences, express opinions and consider all solutions without favour. By introducing people, we look to create opportunities, assist professional development and foster a sense of local community.
Originally starting in Leeds, we now have communities in 8 cities across the UK&I including Birmingham, Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, and Newcastle. Each local branch hosts biannual ‘mini’ conferences with presentations in the latest best practice, techniques and ideas. The agenda addresses the requirements of the local community (not sales or marketing departments) and is the starting point for the day’s conversations during the break out sessions.
By bringing together different user groups and encouraging networking throughout the day, our conferences break down the glass walls typical within the IT sector.
If you are interested in joining the community then head to https://techug.org.uk/about-techug-community/ or contact Mike England on mike.england@technology.ug

Technology.UG - Glasgow IT Pro User Group Community
Description changed:
Silly season is upon us and everyone seems to be away on holiday or as good as. However life goes on and the ‘wack o mole’ game of solving problems with IT services goes on.
So it is my pleasure to anounce that your Glasgow branch is under new management and a committee of local IT Professionals has been formed. They are all employed by companies with offices in Glasgow area and work in various roles delivering IT to business.
A big thank you to all of them for volunteering to help lead the Glasgow IT community - http://www.technologyug.co.uk/Communities/Glasgow
The agenda for the next meeting is still being developed by the new committee but we have some confirmed speakers.
• Jason Mears, Senior Consultant with VMware Professional Services division will explore current best practice for virtualised environments and highlight key vSphere features which you may not have implemented.
• A Hyper-V administrator will describe his current production environment and the challenges they face with Microsoft's virtualisation platform. Will Windows server 10 convince you to change platform?
• Brendon Higgins, “There is no cloud just other people's computers” but if you are prepared to consider new ways of working, you can save loads of money and deliver new services very quickly. How I am looking to deploy what I learnt at Technology UG events into the multinational which pays my mortgage.
• Windows 2003 migration methods, tools & best practice – Admit it, you should have finished this last month…
• Case study – Data protection and business continuity that saved the day and my job.
