TechUG - the IT Pro Community: TechUG Glasgow

TechUG Glasgow first started in August 2014 and now attracts nearly 40 attendees to the community events. The community attracts some huge businesses with the financial services industry always well represented. Attendees at recent community events included Ardel Group, BAM Nuttall, Bield Housing and care, Burness Paull LLP, Heineken, National Trust Scotland, NHS Scotland, RBS, Scottish Equity Partners LLP, Shearings, Skyscanner, Stirling Council, Tesco Bank, Thermofisher University of Glasgow, West Lothian Council, Whyte and Mackay plus many more. TechUG Glasgow is one of our fastest growing communities and we expect over 50 attendees at the next event.

With increasing workloads and demands on our time, the cost of attending an event and taking a day out of the office can be a big challenge. As fellow end users, the team at Technology.UG totally understand the challenges you face at work. However, we believe there is a huge amount of value in joining our community and attending our events which will help both you and your organisations. Here are our top reasons why you should attend at least one user group event every year:

Experience an open forum for the local IT community to come together & share ideas
Come along to network, consolidating your skills and knowledge base within the group
Develop an understanding of use cases and the architecture behind new solutions.
Hear content which has been selected for its educational value by fellow end users and customers
Enjoy the quiet labs room, available for all delegates to access study materials or catch up with work, without the constant distractions of the office.
Benefit from our independence which enables our events to provide impartial guidance based on the groups wisdom
De-risk your new technology investments and upgrades by utilising the community.
Events are free to attend, with complementary Internet access, refreshments throughout the day and buffet lunch.
Come and “Geek out at the bar” at the end of the day and enjoy a few post event drinks with old and new friends.

Code of Conduct:
As an independant and vendor neutral group, we welcome the attendance anyone with an interest in Big Data, Data Centre, Leadership (IT), Networking, Open Source, Storage or Virtualisation but ask attendees to refrain from soliciting for business.

TechUG - the IT Pro Community exists to provide networking and knowledge sharing for IT architects, developers, engineers & managers. We incorporate individual user group themes including Virtualisation, Storage, Datacentre and Open Source. Each user group has its own community headed up by an IT Pro chairman at each of our locations across the UK.

Our independence from vendors and resellers enables the membership to come together, freely share experiences, express opinions and consider all solutions without favour. By introducing people, we look to create opportunities, assist professional development and foster a sense of local community.

Originally starting in Leeds, we now have communities in 8 cities across the UK&I including Birmingham, Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, and Newcastle. Each local branch hosts biannual ‘mini’ conferences with presentations in the latest best practice, techniques and ideas. The agenda addresses the requirements of the local community (not sales or marketing departments) and is the starting point for the day’s conversations during the break out sessions.

By bringing together different user groups and encouraging networking throughout the day, our conferences break down the glass walls typical within the IT sector.
