Sharing what you make and do at Make/Share!
Make/Share is a free monthly event on the second Wednesday of each month organised by Creative Dundee and hosted at The Beer Kitchen Dundee, from 7pm – 8.30pm.
This regular event brings people together to gain a behind the scenes insight into the work of people from a mix of creative, science, social and technology backgrounds.
Four speakers explore how their project or product has evolved, changed and transformed, and how they experiment. They discuss their biggest challenges and how they overcame them and even present work in progress to get your constructive feedback.
We think the processes behind turning a project or a product into a reality aren’t discussed enough, and that’s why Make/Share is so useful. After the talks there’s time for questions and the opportunity to share any news you want.
If you’d like to talk about a project you’ve been working on, just get in touch with Creative Dundee.

Bringing together people who make things, whatever they may be!
Creative Dundee and Dundee MakerSpace are kicking off a new regular informal event series on Wed 12th August.
And by people, we mean anyone who makes, this could include, but not limited to! Artists – developers – scientists – designers – technologists – architects – performers – musicians – public/community activists – individuals, organisations, companies – the list goes on.
Make / Share is the chance to hear a few short talks by people about the things they’ve made and the process they’ve gone through to make them.
We also have space to show and demo your creations/products/processes, so please just bring them along on the night – we’ll have tables and a plug socket or two on offer if needed.

Monday Maker Meetups are our open nights when anyone is able to pop in and see what's going on at Dundee MakerSpace.
If you just want to have a quick blast on a piece of equipment then this is when to do it.
Don't have a project you're working on? Join in with someone else or there's plenty of materials around for you to start something new!
There's plenty of making happening, got something you want to ask a question about or something to show off, bring it along.
Note: For those of you looking for our new location we are at the address below. To find us you head in the main door and into the main area then we are at the end of the first corridor on the right.
The Global Game Jam is held yearly and is the world's largest game jam event taking place around the world at physical locations. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. The GGJ encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.
Here’s the global game jam site:
http://globalgamejam.org/2017/jam-sites/dundee-makerspace
Please don’t sign up for multiple sites for the global game jam as this causes confusion for numbers of places.
You will need to be resisted there to submit your game/ add useful to team pages for submission so might as well do it before the jam but can be done later.
Opening hours:
Please don’t sign up for multiple sites for the global game jam as this causes confusion for numbers of places.
I don’t plan on having the space open though the night, instead 8am - 12 pm
Although if enough people request full 48 hour access it could be arranged.
It would be nice to have a mini play party at the end of the jam but that will depend on who is still awake and will happen if enough people request it.
Food:
We are currently seeking funding for food but have secured none at the moment but the location in central and there are loads of places to stalk up on snacks and get food, along with our small tuckshop which usually has some snack bars, crisps, tea, coffee, noodles cupa soup, and soft drinks.
You can bring your own food and drink into the space as long as you use the bins or take rubbish away with you.
If you or your company would like to sponsor the jam or part sponsor the jam please contact me and we could arrange some signage and mentions throughout the event : lowtek@hotmail.co.uk
Equipment:
There are a few computers in the makerspace but this is mainly a bring your own kit event. Some spare monitors are available for those who like dual screens.
We have a couple workshop benches which may be good for people who want to try a standing desk.
We may also be short on tables if a lot of people show hence the 70 person capacity but if anyone can bring their own table fold up or otherwise that would be much appreciated and if you email me ahead of time I could add more tickets as we have a lot of space just not enough tables. These tables should be removed at the end of the event.
We also home 3d printers, A3 2d printers, a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, soldering equipment and a variety of woodworking equipment if you wish to make something physical. Items such as the laser cutter and 3D printers which require materials have a small fee applied but the prices are reasonable.

We’ll be covering all the boring stuff like our financial situation and cleaning as well as the exciting stuff like what events we should hold, what we should do with the space and what equipment we need.
Everyone is welcome to come along and help decide what direction the business should go in next and help out in any way.
