Our first meetup of the new decade will look at security and resilience in smart city systems
For all the benefits that the application of digital technolgies bring to the way cities are managed to make people's lives easier, if they inadvertently allow bad actors to disrupt these systems, steal data or even destroy physical infrastructure the risks may outweigh those benefits. From CCTV networks being co-opted to conduct denial of service attacks to swimming pool control systems being left open and unprotected on the Internet, we've all heard the horror stories, but what does the reality look like and are things improving?
We've got some excellent speakers lined up already, including John Clark, Professor of Computing and Information Security at the University of Sheffield, and Mark Davies, co-founder of cybersecurity firm Ioetec. Look out for more to be announced very shortly, but in the meantime do register and get the event in your diary, and get in touch if you have something you would like to contribute to the programme!
