This is our monthly informal gathering - just turn up, grab a drink, take a seat and start talking UX! You'll find us upstairs at The Outhouse (off the top of Broughton St.) - take the stairs to the right of the bar as you enter the venue.
Each month we'll have a short talk followed by some discussion around the things that interest you most. Add your ideas to our sketchbook - http://bit.ly/2khJxvg
Timeline:
5.30pm. If you've not been before, come along and say "Hi" and find out what we're all about.
6pm. Arrive, secure drinks, chat.
6.30pm. Group announcements (job opportunities, upcoming events etc.)
For this month's meetup we've teamed up with ProductTank Edinburgh (https://www.meetup.com/ProductTankEdi) to bring you an exciting and insightful evening centred around the role of user research and testing in product development. We’ll hear from speakers including The Scottish National Investment Bank, Education Scotland, xDesign, The Heineken Company & Sustainably.
This event will feature 3 talks from 5 fantastic speakers:
Bobby King & Mike Jefferson: Bobby is Senior User Researcher at Scottish National Investment Bank, where he is planning a User Research programme for this new public-sector investment bank. Mike is a Freelance User Researcher, currently working with Education Scotland. They will talk about how they transitioned from being generalist UX Designers to specialist User Researchers, taking a look at some of the mistakes they have made along the way.
Alanna Innes & Duncan Forbes. Alanna is a Product Owner with xDesign, one of Scotland’s leading digital product development agencies, ensuring product success for innovative companies. Duncan is a Product Manager at Heineken, one of the world’s largest brewers & pub landlords. Heineken employs over 80,000 people and operates breweries, malteries, cider plants and other production facilities in more than 70 countries. Alanna & Duncan will talk about how Heineken employs User Research to ensure commercial & product success. They will describe their experience conducting user testing sessions to challenge assumptions and how an evidence based approach to product definition can complement Agile feature development.
Jenny Bjorkman: Jenny is UX Lead at Sustainably, where she is charged with creating amazing user experiences for one of the most exciting fintechs in the country. Her talk will cover how, even on a small start up budget, Sustainably still keep the user at the heart of everything by carrying out user testing.
