CodeUp Sheffield is a mentoring program for adults who would like to learn how to code for free. Once a month we get together to learn from each other, sharpen our skills and enjoy being in a space where everyone is immersed in code!
There are many resources out there that help you to teach yourself to code, but sometimes there is no substitute for the insight and guidance that another person can give. Our group consists of coders with a wide range of experience, and our aim is to facilitate mentoring between more experienced and less experienced coders.
All you have to bring is a laptop and some coding to get on with, such as a project, a book, or some online tutorials. If you are starting completely from scratch, we will try to guide you towards some learning resources. Please try to install any relevant software in advance, but if you need assistance with this, we are happy to help.
Please RSVP as soon as possible, using your full name (to make it easier for reception to check you in on arrival). If you have RSVPed and are subsequently unable to come, please change your RSVP so that someone else can have your place.
If you can't wait until the event to start sharing interesting coding stuff and learning from each other, you can join our Slack workspace at the below link! We now have a -intros channel where you can introduce yourself, if you wish. We are always happy to be able to welcome new coders to the group!

We also now have a GitHub organisation! Take a look here: https://github.com/CodeUpSHF
We will be using it to host source code for workshops and documents related to the running of CodeUp Sheffield, such as our proposed Code of Conduct, which is currently open for discussion (see the repository for details) and will be briefly talked about at the event.
Many thanks to Sheffield Technology Parks for providing the venue. Please leave them a review on Google Maps!
