CodeUp Sheffield is a mentoring program for adults who would like to learn how to code for free. Once a month we get together to learn from each other, sharpen our skills and enjoy being in a space where everyone is immersed in code!
There are many resources out there that help you to teach yourself to code, but sometimes there is no substitute for the insight and guidance that another person can give. Our group consists of coders with a wide range of experience, and our aim is to facilitate mentoring between more experienced and less experienced coders.
Unfortunately, we can't guarantee that there will always be a perfect match between the number of mentors and learners, but most of the learners we speak to say that they are happy with the amount of assistance they receive at our meetups.
All you have to bring is a laptop and some coding to get on with, such as a project, a book, or some online tutorials. If you are starting completely from scratch, we will try to guide you towards some learning resources. Please try to install any relevant software in advance, but if you need assistance with this, we are happy to help.
Please RSVP as soon as possible. If you are subsequently unable to come, please change your RSVP so that someone else can have your place. Also remember to register with your proper name and last name (vs. nickname in Meetup) so that reception can check you in...Thanks!
If you can't wait until the event to start sharing interesting coding stuff and learning from each other, you can join our Slack workspace at the below link! We now have a -intros channel where you can introduce yourself, if you wish. We are always happy to be able to welcome new coders to the group!

Many thanks to Sheffield Technology Parks for providing the venue (all they ask is that you leave them a review on Google Maps).
