We aren't going to give you a long spiel about why you should test, everywhere you look developers are shouting from the rooftops about the importance of testing as part of our daily workflow.
So you have finally given in to the chorus of developers proclaiming that TTD is the only way forward. You have perhaps tried a tutorial or two on how to setup PHPUnit and wrote unit tests for a simple calculator.
Now for the tricky bit - how do you write a test for something that isn't just a single class application? You apply your new skills to your real life code and all of a sudden it feels like the learning curve has gone vertical.
Our workshop aims to tackle the tricky subject of how to structure your objects and application to make your code more testable when your application inevitably becomes more complex than a simple calculator.
Novices and experienced testers all welcomed and encouraged. We are hoping to see some developers with prior PHPUnit testing experience and will actively encourage those to share their knowledge with others during the workshop!
Bring your laptop if possible with the ability to run PHP and PHPUnit.
After the event we'll head to a local pub for a chat with fellow attendees and a few drinks.
Our event is free to all but we ask that you sign up online so we have an idea of numbers for the venue. We love to hear your feedback and suggestions for future events either on Twitter or through the #SheffieldPHP channel on the Sheffield Digital Slack account.
