BECC SANDERSON SEXTET
Created in 2014 by Becc Sanderson with her husband and collaborator Chris Greive, the Becc Sanderson Sextet is a living Real Book to the talents of this powerful Australian vocalist, a perfect marriage of Sanderson’ mellifluous voice with Greive’s prodigious arranging talents. Revisit that one night sell-out performance back in April, when the Becc Sanderson Sextet Bows to Bowie tore the roof of the Jazz Bar in an unabashed celebration of one of the most inventive and mercurial artists to ever walk the planet, their emotional pilgrimage to all things Bowie. Plundering classic albums such as Heroes, Aladdin Sane, Ziggy Stardust, Let’s Dance and Hunky Dory for their extraordinary repertoire, the Becc Sanderson Sextet pay passionate tribute to the legend whilst embracing his tradition of reinvention and downright loopiness. In the words of the great man himself, “The sun machine is coming down, and we’re gonna have a party”.
