Biographies
Chair: Vicky Brock - Entrepreneur, vickybrock.com
Vicky Brock is a globally renowned and award winning entrepreneur, innovator and woman in IT (Forbes, Bloomberg, Everywoman, Computer Weekly). She raised $2 million in equity investment and grant funding from her extensive international network for Clear Returns as Founder and CEO. She built an EU Top Tech Startup for her multi award winning company which has machine learning & AI at its core. Vicky has shared the fundamentals of becoming investor ready on her blog.
Mark Logan - Tranformational C Level Executive
Mark has over 25 years' experience in successful tech-startups and 1st-tier internet tech environments. He was instrumental in the success of multiple award-winning start-ups, including as COO in Skyscanner, one of Europe's most impactful tech businesses, where he joined in early 2012 to take on the general management of the company, culminating in a £1.5billion acquisition in 2016. He was VP of Engineering at Atlantech, a Scottish software business sold to Cisco for $180m in 2000, and a founding member of big-data start-up Sumerian, in 2002 He now works as an advisor, investor and non-executive director.
Angela Prentner-Smith - This is Milk, Managing Director
Angela Prentner-Smith leads the business strategy and operations for This is Milk. Angela is passionate about customer experience, digital and running great projects. Angela started her career in earnest in the Public Sector, working on the Student Loans Company’s Customer First transformation programme. She was responsible for online projects from scope, insights through design, delivery and live management. Since then Angela has had roles on some of Scotland’s largest programmes, working for the likes of Scottish Power, Tesco Bank, Barclays Wealth and National Australia Group. Since starting This is Milk, Angela has mentored at Entrepreneurial Spark, spoken at a number of events, and been nominated for several awards in 2016 and 2017, including an Inspiring City Award, (Contribution by a young business leader - 2016), and a SWIB Celebrating Women Award for Communicator.
Rachel Lane - Digital Strategist & Service Designer
Rachel brings 12 years of digital marketing experience gained in national agencies across the UK and Canada, including SEO, SEM, online advertising, digital production, planning, UX research and strategy. She has historically consulted on UX design for startups, alongside digital transformation projects for corporate clients and multi-channel advertising campaigns. In 2015, she made the decision to apply to the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID), keen to develop prototyping skills so she could bring some of her own ideas to life. Rachel was accepted to CIID in 2016 and graduated in December 2017.
Leah Lockhart - The Democratic Society, Public Engagement
Helping organisations build capability for meaningful public involvement and engagement, Leah works at the intersection of technology, academia and public service. With a focus on Scotland’s third sector and local governments, she has a special interest in how commercial community management and service development practices can help create public services fit for the internet age. Leah is a core organiser of the OneTeamGov network in Scotland, a movement of reform through practical action.
