With 2017 now approaching full steam, I believe now is a good time to organise our first MongoDB Glasgow event and get everybody together for introductions.
We'll meet on the 27th March, with a venue to be determined shortly - after I have a rough idea of the numbers.
If you have a Glasgow City Centre location and are happy to accommodate our first meetup, then please get in touch (david at rawkode dot com)
I hope to meet many of you in a few weeks time,
Until then,
David
With 2017 now approaching full steam, I believe now is a good time to organise our first MongoDB Glasgow event and get everybody together for introductions.
Agenda:
1800 - Show up and network
1830 - Whats new in MongoDB 3.4 and Atlas by John Page
1930 - One for the road
About John:
John is a MongoDB Principal Consulting Engineer based in Glasgow,
Scotland with more than 20 years experience in software development,
consultancy and advocacy. He is a true all-rounder with one foot in
the business and another in the technology.
Prior to joining MongoDB in 2013, John spent 18 years working for
Memex Technology Ltd a company providing a proprietary, closed source
document database and associated products to the Intelligence
community in the UK, US, Middle East and Caribbean. Starting as a
graduate programmer John rose to Director of Technology via roles in
Architecture, Sales, and Professional Services. After participating in
a management buyout in 2002 and ultimately selling the company to Cary
based analytics giant SAS in 2008, John then spent three years leading
integration of the Memex and SAS product portfolio.
John spent his first two years in MongoDB in a Presales role whilst
occasionally helping out in consulting before moving full time to
consulting in 2016.
He describes himself as a low level, performance focussed developer
guy and can often be found coding in C and working on microprocessors
when not off-roading in his Jeep.
