This month we are focusing on blogging and issues around content.

*** 6:30 pm - ‘Fake News’, WordPress, and Freedom of Speech Online

A look at freedom of speech online in the age of ‘fake news’, from WordPress.com Community Guardian and Internet law specialist ‘Clicky Steve’.

About the speaker: Stephen McLeod Blythe (aka ‘Clicky Steve’) is a tech law geek from Glasgow. He is a member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, ACLU, and the Open Rights Group Supporters’ Council. Stephen writes passionately about digital rights and constitutional law, as a fierce advocate of freedom of expression and currently spends most of his time defending WordPress users from abusive copyright and trademark claims (amongst other things) as Community Guardian for Automattic.

About the speaker: John Johnston is a primary school teacher in Banton, North Lanarkshire. He works (part time) as Product Owner for Glow Blogs and has been interested in Open Education and an enthusiastic proponent for blogging and podcasting in the classroom for over 10 years.
