The IoT is currently a network that enables devices to exchange data. The data that flows between things could become far more powerful if there was a way to enable these devices to operate autonomously and intelligently - this is where Artificial Intelligence (AI) comes in.
In future, the billions of things that make up the IoT, will be capable of making decisions for themselves. This will result in far superior products and services that businesses and consumers will benefit from. Examples include smarter homes, smarter offices, smarter transportation, and smarter factories.
Improvements in mathematical formulas and increasingly powerful hardware, courtesy of a new generation of ASICs such as Google's Tensor CPU, are pushing the envelope in the area of neural networks and deep learning.
AI innovation is resulting in advancements such as Intelligent Assistants or "ChatBots", that are almost capable of human-like conversation, and machine vision that enables autonomous flying robots, and cars to "see", and respond to the world around them.
18:00 REGISTRATION
18:15 - 18:20 WELCOME
18:20 - 18:30 Simon Montford (WEB3//IOT)
Open Forum; members are invited to make announcements, share news, seek project collaborators, recruit talent, promote their IoT events, and request topics for future Meetups.
18.30 - 18.50 Gihan Munasinghe (Converse AI)
There is growing interest among enterprise organisations that wish to use chatbots to improve their engagement strategies. The advancement of AI and NLP (Natural Language Processing) technologies has enabled chatbots to have human-like interactions and conversations with people. This talk will discuss the role of chatbots, including how they can be adopted within organisations and treated as new employees. It will also cover how NLP can be used to enhance user experience by making chatbots really helpful and useful.
18:50 - 19:10 Daniel Winterstein (SoDash)
Chatbots offer many opportunities to the modern business, but how can we maintain a genuine conversation? How do we educate bots to be less, well, robotic, and more like co-operative partners? Daniel has worked on AI solutions for organisations ranging from Universal Music and Virgin to the UK government. He'll explore the concept of sincerity within AI and automation, and look at how machine-learning will make bots increasingly easy to use. He'll also be demoing his new bot product: SoGrow, the social media "robot intern" for SMEs.
19:10 - 19:30 Stefan Sabev (Skyscanner)
Stefan will talk about how Skyscanner started out experimenting with bots and what they've learned so far. He'll also cover why they think bots are important going forward.
19:30 - 19:50 DISCUSSION & PANEL Q&A
19:50 - 21:00 NETWORKING & DRINKS
