This timely seminar will examine the development of UK spectrum policy.

Bringing together policymakers with key stakeholders across the telecoms and audio-visual media sectors, this timely seminar will examine the development of UK spectrum policy. It takes place as demand pressures continue to increase - as highlighted in Ofcom’s recently published Communications Market Report - and as future allocation is being discussed.

Planned sessions will consider key advances in dynamic spectrum use, sharing and 5G, including next steps for overcoming the technological and commercial barriers, in order to develop these methods of increasing capacity.

Further sessions will examine the possibility of further spectrum re-allocation and band auctions in light of increased pressures from the continued rollout of 4G and as more consumers migrate to online to consume content, as well as consider the priorities for regulators and policymakers including the creation of a centralised management service for public sector spectrum, encouraging innovative technologies and raising capital for the Exchequer.

We are delighted that Nick Munn, Head of Spectrum Policy, Department for Culture, Media and Sport; Philip Marnick, Group Director, Spectrum Policy Group, Ofcom; Simon Mason, Director of Radio Frequency Technology, Arqiva and Dr Mike Short, Vice President and Head of Research and Development, Telefónica Europe have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.
