We are the capital of Scotland’s premier meetup for all things PHP and more. We love talking about all web technologies, including, but not limited to: PHP & JavaScript frameworks / DHTML & AJAX / programming methodologies and design patterns / CMS’s / e-commerce / hosting / scalability / deployment / Relational & Document databases and any other cool web technologies.
edPUG takes place on the third Tuesday of every month. It is free to come along, but we issue electronic tickets via Eventbrite to control the capacity of the venue. Get your ticket early to avoid disappointment! We’ll also email those with a free ticket with a reminder a few days before the event.
We update the Open Tech Calendar with more specific details on the event within a week of the event, so check back regularly.
Follow on twitter @edpug to keep up to date with event announcements. Hope to see you there sometime!
Edinburgh PHP User Group Talk - PHP extensions & 2D/3D graphics programming in PHP
Description changed:
Get warmed up for Halloween with a frighteningly good in person edPUG talk by Santiago Lizardo from LogicNow. He'll trick and treat you with his tales of C and PHP.
About the speaker
Santiago Lizardo is a seasoned software engineer with more than a decade in the professional programming world. He studied in Argentina, moved to Spain for work reasons, to finally end up living in Scotland where he is spending his days between family life, full time working at LogicNow as Software Development team lead and when he finds some spare time publishing open source code in the form of little tools and games.
About the talk
The talk will introduce you to the concept of PHP extensions in C. Reasons why would you write one, and walk-through the process of becoming a PHP contributor to publish the extension in the PECL directory.
After that, two extensions written by the speaker for multimedia programming in PHP will be discussed and will be showcased. 2D and 3D worlds for the desktop in PHP are possible and lot of fun.
As usual, Pizza and beer on the night, hope to see you all there!
Cheers,
edPUG
