What happened to that Indiegogo campaign?
Earlier this year Open Rights Group launched a crowdfunder to ask you to support a professionally made, funny video to spread the message about what's wrong with the UK's Internet filter system. We believe that filters don’t work, are bad for internet freedom and can givea false sense of security when it comes to young people's use of the internet.
We were delighted to see that lots of people agreed with us and we met our fundraising target within two weeks. And now the video is done!
So, excited to see what we made?Come along to our new filtering campaign launch party!
We'll be showing the hilariously pointed video, which was produced by an ace Australian team of creatives who were behind the campaign that helped kill off plans for an internet filter in Australia. The party is taking place at Shortwave, an independent cinema in Bermondsey.
After the video there'll be a responding talk from the excellent Professor Andy Phippen, an expert on young people, the Internet and the ethics of IT. Plus, we'll be talking about Blocked, our new tool that lets you find out if your website is blocked by these filters. We hope you'll join us for drinks and a chat afterwards.
When: Monday 21st July, 6.30-Late.
Where: Shortwave Cinema, Bermondseyshortwavecinema.com
We’d be delighted if you would like to join us.
There are limited places and guest spaces already filled, so please do RSVP.
