We are the capital of Scotland’s premier meetup for all things PHP and more. We love talking about all web technologies, including, but not limited to: PHP & JavaScript frameworks / DHTML & AJAX / programming methodologies and design patterns / CMS’s / e-commerce / hosting / scalability / deployment / Relational & Document databases and any other cool web technologies.
edPUG takes place on the third Tuesday of every month. It is free to come along, but we issue electronic tickets via Eventbrite to control the capacity of the venue. Get your ticket early to avoid disappointment! We’ll also email those with a free ticket with a reminder a few days before the event.
edPUG Tuesday 19th August: Manos talks about Content Delivery Networks
Description changed:
It's August, it's the Fringe, and according to tickets.edfringe.com, there are 387 events you could go and see between 7pm and 9pm on Tuesday the 19th.
But guess what? None of them are offering you:
1) A very informative talk on Content Delivery Networks by the Technical Director of Blonde
2) A chance to win a Free Personal License of PhpStorm, courtesy of JetBrains
3) An opportunity to share your PHP ups and downs with fellow edPUGGERS
Not only that, we have a novel way of choosing the winner. We will have licences for the next 6 months, and speakers get one extra entry, so please get in touch if you want to do a talk.
To be in with a chance of winning, you must be on Twitter, and follow @edpug. Follow us now!
The talk, by Manos of Blonde, will cover Content Delivery Networks and their use in improving performance, scalability, and availability of websites. It will cover the concepts behind Content Delivery Networks including origin offload, acceleration, content caching and invalidation, SSL termination and failover with lessons learned from production deployments of Amazon Cloudfront and Akamai.
