We are the capital of Scotland’s premier meetup for all things PHP and more. We love talking about all web technologies, including, but not limited to: PHP & JavaScript frameworks / DHTML & AJAX / programming methodologies and design patterns / CMS’s / e-commerce / hosting / scalability / deployment / Relational & Document databases and any other cool web technologies.
edPUG takes place on the third Tuesday of every month. It is free to come along, but we issue electronic tickets via Eventbrite to control the capacity of the venue. Get your ticket early to avoid disappointment! We’ll also email those with a free ticket with a reminder a few days before the event.
edPUG Tuesday 17th June 2014: edPUG.tv (Blonde Digital Offices)
Description changed:
It's all change this month, as edPUG has permanently moved venue! Due to Blonde Digitals recent aquisition of Line Digital, edPUG now takes place in their swanky Edinburgh office in the Shore. Blonde Digital has kindly taken over the sponsorship, the only bad news being that the Table Tennis table doesn't yet have its new home sorted yet.
To ease in the new venue change we are holding an edPUG.tv, showing the video of "MO' SERVERS, MO' PROBLEMS", a talk by Nick Stielau that took place at Drupalcon Austin.
Servers have approximately about (ls /etc/; ps aux; netstat -nltp) | wc -l things that can go awry.
Find out how you can safely and securely run fewer servers to achieve operational and cost-of-goods efficiencies using different Open Source ‘containerization’ technologies. We’ll go over some of the foundational technologies including ‘cgroups’ and ‘kernel namespaces’, as well as tools to deploying and managing containers, including Let Me Containerize That For You from Google, Docker from Docker.io, Systemd from the Red Hat community, and LXC from Linux core.
As usual, beer and PHPizza available on the night, hope to see you there.
We have updated www.edpug.co.uk with directions to the new venue, please don't turn up to the wrong place!
