We look forward to welcoming you to the South Yorkshire IoT (Internet of Things) Meetup at Arup, Sheffield on Wednesday 22nd February (in person, 5-7pm). This meetup is for anyone with an interest in IoT, sensors and data, everyone is welcome. It’s an informal event to get the IoT community together, hear 3 short talks from regional businesses and let you know about upcoming events in our meetup series.

Mark Davies, Ioetec, Host – Welcome
Arup - Introduction
Arup are a professional services firm with a focus on the build environment and they work closely and collaboratively to develop the solutions needed today - and tomorrow. They have deep expertise in strategy, design, planning and engineering, and their project portfolio ranges from the UK Government's heat decarbonisation programme, to the design of new cancer treatment centres and playing a central role in engineering a more resilient rail network.
Arup are working with Sheffield City Council to help deliver the Sheffield Retail Quarter. They are providing strategic cities and digital advice alongside specialist transport, lighting, fire and digital modelling services.
Katie Steele, Cheribim
Cheribim is a tech startup that is revolutionising the management and maintenance of church buildings and other heritage assets, while also compiling a body of training data to enable AI-assisted auditing. They are currently using IoT to monitor conditions in churches and heritage buildings.
Pierre Drezet, INX
Inχ provide software tools, technologies and services to help with the most challenging aspects of IoT projects.
Pierre is a systems engineer who founded inx in 2008 to develop no-code embedded software platform for networked devices. With a background in machine learning, control systems & dynamic system modelling he has combined these skills with experience in developing commercial digital products to produce an end-to-end platform to help OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), building owners and service providers to address the urgent requirements for energy consuming devices to "get smart" and take advantage of the huge carbon and cost benefits of doing so.
Arup is fully accessible and is less than a 10 minute walk from Sheffield train station or West Street Tram Stop. Parking is available around the corner at Q Park, 72 Charles Street, Sheffield, S1 2N1.
• Create a vibrant group around IoT and cybersecurity that enables individuals and organisations to share their capability and stimulate discussion and collaboration (sales-type pitches are discouraged).
• Enable real-world IoT applications, through facilitating technology research/development and commercial progress.
• Help position South Yorkshire as a leading IoT centre and lay the groundwork for larger events/activities that reinforce this reputation.
