Annual Conference of the UKRI CDT in Speech and Language Technologies (SLT) and their Applications

This in-person conference will be held on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June 2022 and is hosted in the University of Sheffield's Diamond Building. Register now (registration fee covers morning and afternoon refreshments, buffet lunch on both days, as well as refreshments during the poster session).

The UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Speech and Language Technologies (SLT) and their Applications is a flagship collaboration between UKRI (the UK’s national academic research funder), the University of Sheffield, and an ever-growing number of industry partners.

Our second Annual Conference will showcase the research being undertaken by our CDT’s three cohorts of PhD students as well as those in the Department of Computer Science’s long-established Speech and Hearing (SpandH) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) research groups who, together, constitute one of the largest groupings of speech and language researchers in the UK with world leading research publications and impact.

As well as our student research, you can find out more about the CDT’s unique 4-year Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) training programme which prepares students to take up R&D and / or leadership roles in industry.

This 2-day event is an opportunity for our students, academics, current and potential industrial partners, and other academic groups in the UK to meet and see first-hand the innovative work going on in our CDT. The event will feature:
- Keynote talks from leading international academics and industrial practitioners
- Talks from our students describing their PhD research
- Panel discussion covering technical and ethical topics.
- Training programme spotlights including the exciting work our students have been doing with a national UK charity
- Networking opportunities with industry and academics
- Poster exhibition

Register now! We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
