****THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL. Those with a place will be contacted directly. Please get in touch with us if you'd like to be part of a future workshop and we will schedule again later in the year.****
Ryan Webb from Adapt (https://www.adaptworldwide.com/) will be running our third Google Analytics workshop for charities, this time held online via ZOOM.
This event is workshop style, for a max 5-6 people from different charities.
There will be 2 sessions, each 1.5 hours held on Thursday 10th June and Thursday 24th June from 4 - 530pm and you must be able to commit to attending both session in full.
- What devices do people use & how is this changing?
- Where does my traffic come from?
- What pages are people looking at
- Setting up goals
- Analytics Navigation
- Campaign Tracking
The training will be best suited to people who are the sole comms / marketing person in their organisation (or part of a very small team). It’s ideal for beginners; those who occasionally log in to Google Analytics to find basic numbers for reporting, but feel they are missing out on understanding more.
To apply, please respond to this event and complete the registration survey by 21st May so you can have your intro call with Ryan.
Check out the feedback from our previous workshops..
“The workshop Ryan ran was really helpful in getting to know a bit more about Analytics. Before I had a very limited and basic understanding of what it did and wasn't at all confident in using it. Since the workshop, I have been able to properly set up my organisation's Analytics account and retrieve useful information from it which I feel confident in explaining to others. I've used the resources provided during the workshop many times since attending, and I feel confident in knowing where to go if I need to learn anything else." Katie Finch, Lifecycle
"I thought the workshop was fantastic. As nonprofits, we're always busy, and need to make sure that what we're doing is making the best possible use of our time and our organisations' time. Ryan got us right into learning, and everything we were shown was really relevant and useful for Babbasa." Eddie Bingham, Babbassa

Women's Aid national charity have been working in partnership with cxpartners (https://www.cxpartners.co.uk/) to build a live chat service that has survivors at the heart of everything that is designed.
Women’s Aid wanted their new digital service to be flexible to adapting to these changing needs to ensure that they continue to provide support in a way that women feel safe and comfortable accessing. They took the bold step to begin working on developing a live chat service to meet these shifting needs and to reach more women.
In this session Emma Howell (https://uk.linkedin.com/in/emma-howell) will share her approach to research with survivors and individuals experiencing domestic abuse, how safety was considered and planned for and the importance of content design. Emma will also talk about getting an organisation ready to support a service like this.
Emma Howell is formerly of cxpartners and is now a UX designer for Essex County Council. Emma has 13 years of research experience, starting in academia before finding her way to crafting lovely services in the public and charity sector.

Drafting letter to the PCC about the legal basis of Cellebrite
Description changed:
In this event, we will be drafting a letter to the PCC about the legal basis and controls on the use of the Cellebrite and other similar mobile phone data extraction tools. We are encouraging concerned members of the public to help us with this.
It will be a nice collective action to get together in a physical space to discuss it and have a tangible outcome.
Info on the use of these tools by the local authorities can be found here:
What are your digital rights under the law? How can we challenge surveillance by the police and corporations? We have two expert speakers to talk about recent developments.
Dan Carey is a solicitor at Deighton Pierce Glynn in Bristol who represents Open Rights Group in its challenge to mass surveillance at the European Court of Human Rights and has acted for Privacy International and private individuals in relation to surveillance and data protection issues. He will ask what the law can do to protect us against new surveillance tech, including our rights under the GDPR.
Millie Graham Wood is a solicitor at Privacy International. Privacy International works around the world on issues relating to surveillance, data protection and data exploitation. In the UK they are responsible for ground-breaking challenges against the intelligence agencies in relation to mass surveillance practices and increasingly are looking at the use of new technologies by the police and other state actors. A recent report 'Digital Stop and Search' exposed the use of mobile phone extraction technologies which has taken place in secret since 2012.
Could new plans to make Britain "the safest place in the world to be online" have unintended consequences?
Hear from ORG campaigns manager Mike Morel, legal officer Alex Haydock about how the Government is working with social media companies to decide acceptable standards for online content.
Learn how heavy fines encourage the use of not-so-smart filters that can silence free speech, and how murky definitions of 'harmful content' give social media companies unprecedented control over free expression.

Come to a free screening of 'The Haystack', followed by Q&A
Description changed:
ORG Bristol are linking up with ORG London to show the Scenes of Reason documentary 'The Haystack,' a film which examines surveillance in Britain today, particularly in light of the debates in Parliament surrounding the Investigatory Powers Bill. Please join us for what should be a fascinating exploration of a controversial and hotly-debated subject.
It will be held in the Old Council Chamber in Bristol University's Wills Memorial Building. We will be joining the London Q&A via video link after the screening.

You'll also hear some awesome talks by the following guest speakers:
