Description changed:
The Leeds Tester Gathering is a community event run for testers by testers. The format of the event provides the opportunity for networking 6-6:30pm, guest speakers and time for questions and answers between 6:30-8pm, then the chance for more networking (until late for those who want to) with a free bar!
On Thursday 13th February guest speaker Ash Winter, Lead Consultant at The Test People, will present 'Testing is Exploratory, so Why so Formal?'
An introduction to Ash
I'm a tester and Scrum Master, who has spent most of the last five years in organisations aspiring to transform to a new way of working, influencing testers and strategy to utilise the most versatile and powerful testing tool of all, their intelligence, experience and intuition.
'Testing is Exploratory, so Why so Formal?'
A great deal of the testing world is still in love with the test script. The process of creating a manual set of steps is still the cornerstone of strategy in many organisations. I believe that this approach neglects a significant part of any project or organisational test strategy, exploration. Many believe that exploratory testing is the way forward, I argue that testing itself is exploratory and although it remains largely unacknowledged, testers practice exploration daily.
I will talk about how, as a tester, you can balance your approach and work with stakeholders to grow consensus that exploration is an invaluable part of any test strategy. I will cover both the principles of the challenge and the practical steps you can take to make this change happen and begin to approach testing in a way which utilises skills from across the spectrum of testing formality.
If you would like to attend please follow the link to the Eventbrite site and register to reserve your place. We look forward to seeing you all there!
