Key events include: Data Summit (23/24 March Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh), Data Talent Scotland (22 March Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh), training and a showcase hackathon. This presentation tells a story of a hackathon where mixing a cool idea with the latest technologies has resulted in the grand prize and the fan favourite award of the IBM Sparkathon with nearly 600 participants. It will also include a demo on applying the key technologies and how they were effectively combined in the context of the Bluemix platform.
Radek’s Summary
Radek Ostrowski is an independent software engineer with an academic background in high-performance computing. He specializes in building scalable real-time data collection and predictive analytics platforms. He has worked at the University of Edinburgh in data-related projects, contributed to the success of a game's startup - DeltaDNA, co-built super-scalable backend for PlayStation 4 at Sony and started Docker revolution at Tesco Bank. He is currently working with Spark, Scala and Docker for US-based startups.
