Stanford have recently announced a new class 'How to Start a Startup’ (http://startupclass.samaltman.com/) that will be running from the 23/9/14 onwards. The course is meant to cover all the basics of starting a startup, and each lecture will be given by a well-known figure from the startup world including Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, Ben Silbermann, founder of Pinterest and many more.
We will be organising sessions every Wednesday to watch the lecture videos. We’ll brainstorm ideas, bounce them off each other, and refine them over the course of the semester. Open to anyone and everyone!
The actual viewing will start at 18:30, but we encourage arriving sometime after 18:00, there's a small exercise planned as part of the course.
Venue: 50 George Sq -> the newly refurbished building at the corner of George Square next to David Hume Tower, once inside just follow the signs straight ahead to room G.06

The Women in Computing editathon will look to add and improve information about Scottish women who have made a significant impact in the field of computing and engineering, including computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, information systems, and information technology. Whether creating entirely new articles for women who have been overlooked thus far, or working on existing articles to make them better and more informative, any contribution is welcomed!
Organised by the National Library of Scotland and Wikimedia UK, the project consists of a series of editathons run during March 2014, aiming to improve Wikipedia's coverage of influential Scottish women in a variety of professions.
