This month's social will be slightly different as we'll be at Maltman instead of The Raven.
There will be no formal agenda but we bring resources to read and discuss as usual. If it's your first time, you can experience transacting on Ethereum by sending you some free ETH!
Please take the time to read the meetup details at the bottom of the description. We are trying out new things to make the meetups more interesting and fun. We'll be handing out POAP NFTs and members who collect a POAP at one of the next two events will be entered into our raffle at the meetup in October at the Eagle Labs!
The event is suitable for people new to the world of Ethereum who might have lots of questions, and it's also suitable for veterans in the community - we adopt a "friendly first and knowledgeable second" approach :)
We hope to see you there.
Meetup details:
If this is your first meetup then we will send you some free ETH! If you don't know which wallet to use then we recommend the Argent wallet: https://www.argent.xyz
You will receive a POAP for attending the meetup - learn more about POAPs here: https://poap.xyz
If you attend at least three meetups and collect three POAPs then you are eligible for your own glasgow.eth subdomain, for example if your name is Satoshi you might like satoshi.glasgow.eth - learn more about ENS here: https://docs.ens.domains
Printouts of the previous month of https://weekinethereumnews.com will be available to read.
A selection of Ethereum stickers to choose from.
A collection of Ethereum books that can be borrowed until the next meetup.
Built upon the fundamental concepts Bitcoin introduced in 2008, Ethereum was released in 2015. Ethereum has rapidly grown to become the most popular platform for decentralised applications and the second largest blockchain by market capitalisation.
The meetup aims to facilitate technical discussions as well as provide help and (not financial!) advice to people who have just heard about Ethereum and the power of decentralised applications and want to learn more. With Ethereum's rapidly expanding ecosystem and core developments we know that the amount of information can be overwhelming at times.
Some of the topics we might cover are decentralised applications (Dapps), core protocol developments such as the transition to proof of stake, mining, staking, how to learn Solidity, general market chit chat and the philosophies underpinning the rapid adoption of blockchain technologies in general. If this all sounds interesting to you then definitely pop along to one of our meetups!
