The Open Rights Group Conference 2017 is taking place over the first weekend in November (Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th).
The conference is going to be a fantastic opportunity to get the low down on the current state of affairs and policy objectives of all things digital rights!
The conference will be fairly equally split between talks and workshops with Day 1 being filled lectures and Day 2 all about ORG campaigns and workshops. Day 2 will be super interesting for local groups.
A good idea might be for a group of ORG Brightoners to head down to the conference together.
For full details and tickets (ORG members get a discount) visit the website: https://orgcon.openrightsgroup.org/
Also please note that the venue for Day 1 is not the same as Day 2. The venue and time listed on this meetup are for Day 1 (Saturday).
All Member Meeting - come and organise ORG Brighton!
Description changed:
These meetings are for us to come together and review what we have been up to in the previous month and plan our upcoming events over a drink!
We will be discussing ORGs upcoming national campaign and planning our first cryptoparty.
However there will be time for people to discuss any other ideas they have. This is because we use the Lean Coffee format which is democratic, easy and fun. We would also love to hear from anyone who could help with filming our events!
We hope to see you at the meeting - we chose the Victory as its central, serves good beer and is accessible. If you have any suggestions for venues for future events just let us know!
Hey! Do I have to attend these meetings to have a say in what our group does?
No. You can suggest anything at any time by contacting your organisers direct here on Meetup (Damian and Obs), by email: [masked] or Twitter: @ORGBrighton. You can also start a discussion with the whole group via our email list: https://lists.openrightsgroup.org/mailman/listinfo/org-brighton (the meetings minutes and actions will be shared via this list too).
Anything proposed via these methods by people who cannot make the meeting will be proposed on your behalf by the organisers.
Put digital rights and human rights on the agenda on June 8th. Quiz your candidates on what they will do to protect rights online. Find candidates that will ensure Brexit does not mean losing your civil liberties.
Don't go into the polling booth without knowing which candidates are going to protect your rights!
The event is free and open to all. All views and questions will receive a fair hearing - we only ask that everyone respects one another.
The venue is accessible in terms of physical access and we are committed to making our events open to all regardless of any support need so please contact us directly to let us know how we can help: brighton AT openrightsgroup.org

Description changed:
These meetings are for us to come together and review what we have been up to in the previous month and plan our upcoming events over some nice food and drink :) They are normally on the first Wednesday of the month.

However there will be time for people to discuss any other ideas they have. This is because we use the Lean Coffee format which is democratic, easy and fun. We would also love to hear from anyone who could help with filming our events!
We hope to see you at the meeting - we chose the Fountain Head as its central, serves nice food and drink and is accessible. If you have any suggestions for venues for future events just let us know!
