In a sector where we're encouraged to "move fast and break things", how can we make sure accessibility isn't overlooked or thrown in the backlog for "later"? This talk looks at how we, as developers, can start placing accessibility at the heart of every piece of code we push to review.
I'll take you through some starting principles, key tools, quick-win refactoring priorities, and everyday practices for verifying your code in the browser.
Suzanne is a software developer passionate about creating accessible web experiences. She is the creator and maintainer of Up Your A11y, a web accessibility resource aimed primarily at React developers.
Currently working for Nucleus Financial, she has a wide range of experience with national brands such as the BBC and Sainsbury's Bank.

Alec started coding on his big brother's Spectrum 48k in the 80s. He worked as a secondary Maths teacher, an educational games developer, agency website developer, social games developer, and eventually became a Senior Software Engineer at YouTube and Google. He is now Principal Developer at KPV LAB, Edinburgh.

👉Talk 1: Security and Authentication in React Native
In this talk, Kadi runs through security concerns specific to native development and explores ways to mitigate these risks. The React Native developer experience is very similar to that of React's. So much so, that it's easy to forget some important underlying differences when it comes to security and authentication.
Kadi is a Senior Software Engineer at Formidable Labs. Her career started off with Mathematics and Python, and has been gradually moving up the stack. She has now been building apps with React for the past 4, and with React Native for with the past 2 years. Kadi is also the owner and maintainer of React Native App Auth - an SDK for communicating with OAuth2 providers.
