  • Using the Scratch programming language and basic electronics participants create simple code graphics to show the Met Office weather forecast for the next five days.

    They will then use various physical computing aspects to create their own weather forecast display system.

  • In this workshop each participant learns the basics of soldering as they create their own microphone. They then spend time sampling and recording the acoustics of objects throughout the space and finally edit and modify these recordings using the free Audacity audio software.

    Attendees can take their microphone and sound recordings away to continue to work on and edit them.

    Suitable for Ages 11 and above (under 16 accompanied)

  • A session aimed at people with no coding knowledge or experience. The session introduces the simple Scratch coding environment and explains how to code using simple drag and drop blocks. Basic coding concepts are introduced and fun practical excercises (including the use of the Code-a-Pillars teach the process of solving real life problems with code before the widely used high level Python language is introduced.

    Attendees will be able to continue their coding journey after the session if they sign up for the online accounts (Scratch and Trinket).
