Oxford is full of expertise on technology, rights, cybersecurity and privacy - but the city hasn't had a CryptoParty since 2016…! Therefore, Big Brother Watch and Open Rights Group are collaborating to bring together local campaigners, techies, and members of the public to have a CryptoParty in the hope local activists may continue to spread digital privacy and empowerment through CryptoParties!

Targeting the targeters - Holding online ad systems to account for data abuse

As a follow up from our last event where we heard from a digital marketing industry insider about how advertisers exploit personal data, we'll continue on the same theme to hear all about Open Rights Group's ongoing General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) complaints to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) about the real time bidding systems used by Google Ads and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).
We'll also hear about highlights from ORGCon 2019 and get updates about ORG's ongoing campaigns.

But this meet up is also about YOU. We want to hear about the digital rights issues most important to you and what you'd like to see ORG do about them.
Absolutely no experience is necessary for this FREE event. All you need to bring is an interest in how technology affects society and personal freedom, and a desire to work for positive change.
