Two talks this month in Glasgow...
Ashley Baxter on "I'm not a programmer but I built and launched a web app and people actually use it""
Finding myself in the sudden position of running an established business at the age of 18, with no prior experience or knowledge of the industry, I share my experience of teaching myself the necessary skills to run a web-based business, learning to code and bringing a web app to market, and trying to steer it in a new direction altogether.
Stephen Budd on "Leading Clever People: how to avoiding taming wild ducks (while making sure they still deliver)"
Tech is an industry that employs a very high proportion of clever people. The challenge for managers is how to lead smart workers who can often seem more clever than the people leading them. This talk describes some of the characteristics of clever workers, what motivates and de-motivates them, the games they can play and what managers need to do to ensure their clever people retain their full potential.
Thanks to our sponsors Neo, SkyScanner and Glasgow University for making the event possible.
