League of Entrepreneurs: China: Asia-Scotland Event of Global Entrepreneurship Week

Another event supported by the League of Entrepreneurs (LoE) in the spirit of Global Entrepreneurship week, although a little without, is an event about the world superpower of China. LoE is a global network of metric-driven, lean methodology-oriented, technology startup professionals who want to learn collaboratively in order to have better ventures that grow and globalize faster. Tonight's event is hosted by the Asia-Scotland Institute Event and entitled "George Magnus - "Red Flags: Why Xi Jinping’s China is in Jeopardy".
What does this mean for the prospects of technology and entrepreneurs who build and sell it?

Please note that the LoE is NOT hosting this event, but rather promoting it as a recommended educational experience for its Edinburgh chapter and wider membership base. Thus, you will need to purchase tickets direclty from the Eventbrite website. Register here: www.eventbrite.co.uk

Below is a description of the event as provided by the website of the Asia Scotland Institute:

"George Magnus has occupied a front-row seat as events have challenged governments, economies and financial systems around the world since the Great Financial Crisis in 2008. He is widely credited with having identified the trigger points leading to the crisis and with helping us to understand its lingering consequences.

Once the Chief Economist of UBS, George now works as an independent economist, author and speaker. His views and opinions appear regularly in the written and social media, radio and TV. He is the author of The Age of Aging (2008) which assesses one of our leading contemporary economic and social challenges, and of Uprising: will emerging markets shape or shake the world economy? (2011), which considers the rise of and prospects for emerging markets, especially China.

“Red Flags: Why Xi’s China is in Jeopardy is the latest book from George Magnus. In Red Flags, George considers the threats to China’s continued economic rise, but specifically in the context of the governance system under President Xi Jinping. China, as is well known, has become a large and confident power both at home and abroad, and while its core economic challenges are not unique, they are many, and have gathered at a critical moment in China’s development.”

Join the League of Entrepreneurs this evening and learn more about China and its development. Global Entrepreneurship Week is truly an international event, with entrepreneurs participating from 170 countries and an abundance of events lasting throughout November of 2018. China represents an enormous market opportunity for global entrepreneurs.

Considering the venue, and from experience at past Asia Scotland Institute events, business attire is recommended. Plan to arrive at the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh by 5.30pm to get the most from the event, and remember to purchase your tickets in advance.

After the event, the LoE may head to a Christmas get-together hosted by another Edinburgh Meetup Group, which is a friend. The following night, we'll be hosting our own event with a local Edinburgh female investment professional.

The League of Entrepreneurs, a global virtual organization based in Slack that also has face-to-face chapters, is powered by The Startup Race, a virtual global accelerator fostering the creation and traction of new ventures from all over the world.

More Information

The League of Entrepreneurs (LoE) is a virtual, global network of technology entrepreneurs that shares and communicates on the Slack platform. We believe in data, metrics, lean methodologies, and scientific, disciplined approach to building new global technology ventures rapidly. Amongst other offerings, we host monthly "Ask Me Anything" sessions with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and venture capitalists on our Slack channel. We also are building local chapters for face-to-face intervention. Our local chapter in Edinburgh was born from CofoundersLab Scotland, founded and organized by Michael Clouser and James Schoemark. We continue same themes as envisioned by CoFoundersLab for its once-international network of local chapters, including creating a positive, motivating environment where entrepreneurs can find cofounders, in the midst of interactive meetings where entrepreneurs are encouraged to "get up and pitch" and tell us about what they are looking for not only in terms of cofounders, but also in terms of mentors, advisors, investors, and interns. We used a combination of straight presentations and Fireside Chats to engage with our guest entrepreneurs, which have included Rob Jones (formerly of Fanduel), Mike Ramsay (founder of Tivo and Silicon Valley venture capitalist with NEA), and local serial and social impact entrepreneur, Daniel Winterstein. We hold monthly meetings in Edinburgh, and are strong supporters of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), hosting and supporting numerous events in Edinburgh and Glasgow during the month of November. We also throw the annual Startups Christmas party for startup professionals, friends and family in Edinburgh, and invite those from all over Scotland to attend. We are currently growing our global network virtually, as well as seeking partners for local chapters around the world.
