Lean Agile Glasgow - Talks

For February, we have two talks, including a very special guest! Pizza and drinks are being provided by FanDuel. Details of the talks are below:

** "Authentic Teams" by John Le Drew**

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there was a team. And this team, no matter how hard they tried, just couldn’t do agile. They went on a quest to find the “Scroll of Agility”, and after many a death defying feat, stood atop mount Lean under the shade of the great old Scrum-fall tree, they opened the scroll…

Sometimes, we spend so much time as individuals and teams on a quest for change, for transformation. But maybe, we can’t be changed? Maybe, no one can change us. Any maybe, that’s exactly how it should be.

In this session we will take a journey to authenticity, and discover why it matters not only to individuals, but to truly effective teams.

* Why authenticity matters for both individuals and teams.
* Understand how to guide teams towards discovering what is authentic for them.
* Understand context-structural alignment and why it’s at the core of authentic teams.

** "Beyond Frameworks: Thinking and Tools" by Gary Fleming **

“Someone sold them the training wheels, but they don’t have the bike yet” - Kyle Bremner.

Frameworks. Methodologies. Ceremonies. Manifestos. Some would say they represent the collective wisdom of our community. Others would say we often buy things wholesale to avoid having to engage our brains. The truth is messier.

From the idea of cadence to the ceremonies of Scrum, let's examine the value of the scaffolding of Agile and try to think more clearly about what we need. What we __really__ need. We'll find alternatives to the common solutions we see, and figure out how to look for our own contextual answers, rather than just copying what Spotify did again.

We'll separate the Why from the What, the Wheat from the Chaff, the Agile from the marketing.
