Open Rights Group North East: Take control of your online life

• What we'll do
A Newcastle Libraries and Open Rights Group North East event to help you get the digital security and privacy skills you need to make the most of the Internet and your mobile phone.

Boost your browsing (12:30-14:00)

How your browser is configured can change your Internet experience and determine how much information others can see about your browsing habits.
However, there are simple ways to make your browsing more private and more secure.
In this session we will explore how tracking in the browser works and then what steps you can take to limit the information your browser gives away. By the end you will be able to make informed decisions about how you share your data, know how to change default settings and install add-ons and extensions.
PS: Do bring your smartphone or laptop with you!

Mastering your mobile (14:30-15:30)

Your phone is talking to you, and it is constantly generating and transmitting data to others. This workshop will open the box on your mobile phone. Explore how it works and find what choices and changes you can make to increase your security and privacy. Walk away with practical tips and tricks on basic phone security and detoxing your data traces.

You are welcome to attend one or both sessions.
