SmartSheffield is an open community of people and organisations who are interested in the ‘smart city’ concept and its applications in Sheffield. The group meets roughly every two months in the cafe space in Arup UK's Sheffield cafe and presentation space on the 9th Floor of 3 St Paul's Place in the city centre.
The group is open for anyone to come along, find out what’s going on and contribute - the main aims of the group are to bring together a community of people who share a common interest, and to discover, discuss and get involved in local smart city projects.
This month the theme will be 'Coalitions of the Willing' or how can we build consortia to draw down funding opportunities like the ones highlighted by Andy Curtis last month, how we can build out partnerships around existing projects such as the Urban Observatory and potentially around the city's Public Wifi network, and how these things fit in with broader strategic digital plans from the council and its partners.
