"The HiPPO ate my Scrum Guide!" – Tony O’Halloran

We can no longer simply apply the Agile of 15 years ago to the problems of today. Scrum, or any other framework we utilise, is useless in isolation. We know more now and it's lazy to not to put those learnings and tools to use.

Along my journey, I've encountered several common failure patterns that a Scrum Guide or Certification can't address. This is some of what I've learned through the failure of trying naively to do so. This will be an exploration of those failures and what I used to (occasionally successfully) address them; largely based on storytelling, and accompanied by terrible illustrations and bad jokes.

Workshop – “Agile: It’s a People Thing”, Royal London team

Many top Agile experts will tell you that ‘Going Agile’ is a shift in mindset and philosophy as much as, if not more than, a shift of skills and processes. It is a shift in how people see themselves, each other, and their work. We will explore how to help Agile teams to mobilise successfully, working specifically with the human aspects of Agile working: What are the mindset shifts involved in Agile working? How do we help people shift their attitudes and beliefs about the ‘best way’ to work so they can succeed in this new social ecosystem?

We will use an experiential exercise to bring some of this thinking to life and open a dialogue about what it really takes for people to not only change, but stay open to change so teams become truly responsive, inclusive and agile.
