18:20 - 18:30 Simon Montford (WEB3//IOT)
Open Forum; members are invited to make announcements, share news, seek project collaborators, promote their IoT events, and request topics for future Meetups.
18:50 - 19.10 Greig Paul (Strathclyde Uni)
With the potential for machine-to-machine communications, there are many opportunities for sensors and other devices to make use of advances in Blockchain technology. One of the major challenges in building embedded IoT devices, however, relates to the need to reduce power consumption. This talk will explore ways in which power consumption challenges could potentially be overcome using blockchain technology. In addition, Greig will also discuss how blockchain could be used to make connected devices more secure.
18:30 - 18:50 Andrew Paliwoda (Alba Orbital)
Andrew will discuss the possibility of Space-based IOT gateways making use of the LoRa networking. Already, it has been shown that LoRa can operate over extremely large distances, comparable to distances in low earth orbit. Space based gateways offer a great way to break through the digital divide and provide services in remote and hostile environments.
19:10 - 19:30 Simon Tricker (Urban Tide)
AI and machine learning have finally emerged from what seemed like science fiction only a few years ago. Urban challenges offer a rich breeding ground for AI, and this talk will explore the potential for AI to transform our cities and how we prepare for this transformational change.
19:30 -19:50 DISCUSSION & PANEL Q&A
19:50 - 21:00 NETWORKING & DRINKS
