Docker Edinburgh: Docker Meetup

The Docker Edinburgh meetup takes place at Codebase, in their Event Space, which is accessible from the entrance on 38 Castle Terrace. The Meetup will run from around 18h30 to 20h00, with further discussion afterwards in the pub! Cloudsoft will be sponsoring the meetup, and pizza and beer will be provided.

Please let us know what sort of speakers or topics you would like to see at future Meetups, or if there are alternative formats like lightning talks that would prefer.

We're always looking for new speakers, so please get in touch if you have something you'd like to present about Docker or the wider DevOps community!

Speakers

Kevin Cross - Using Container Technologies to Test the Less New

"Docker and container technologies are often associated with newer technologies that are well suited for use in modern micro-services style deployments but that is still not what many of us are working on. This talk will be about Kevin's experience testing more traditional applications across a range of older enterprise technologies."

Kevin is a software engineer who specialises in automating build and deployment systems for delivery pipelines. He works for NCR in Edinburgh.

Chris Urwin - The Benefits of Containerisation

Chris will talk about the benefits of containerisation, why your organisation should have a strategy for their adoption, where to start and the gotchas to avoid. Finally Chris will demo the features of Rancher and explain how it differs from other container platforms.

Chris Urwin works as the EMEA Technical Lead at Rancher Labs. He spends his days helping organisations adopt and implement container strategies using Rancher, and then spends his night doing the same thing for organisations across the pond!
