2.Times Do: Soundcamp live audio streaming workshop

Come and take part in a workshop to build an audio streaming device using a Raspberry Pi that you can site in your garden and broadcast to the world!

This event is in partnership with soundtent to tie in with their SOUNDCAMP event that takes place on 30 April to 1 May 2016.

Soundcamp is a series of outdoor listening events on International Dawn Chorus Day, linked by Reveil: a 24 hour broadcast that tracks the sounds of daybreak, travelling West from microphone to microphone on sounds transmitted live by audio streamers around the globe.

You can hear sounds from the first Reveil broadcast in May 2014 in the Archive. These include streams from the Locus Sonus soundmap, independent projects, commissions and transient streams specially for the event.

Soundcamp exists as the assembled activities of artists, scientists, activists, listeners and others, who contribute live audio streams at daybreak and head outdoors in small or larger forays to explore the sound ecology of strange and familiar places. For 24 hours those sounds are strung together to create a long, live composition and a kind of clock.

In our workshop you will learn how to build and set up a streaming device and how to broadcast it via the internet.

No skills or previous knowledge are required, there are different levels of engagement (see ticket types) and children under 15 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Other information:

You do not need to have a Raspberry Pi for this, you can attend to help out and learn.

If you are bringing your own pi it must be a B, B+ or pi2 (this will not work with a pi3 yet).

You will need a pi, psu (or battery pack), wifi dongle, usb audio device and a microphone.
