# Glasgow Hackerspace Opening Party: 15/02/2025, 3-8 p.m.
Hackerspaces are community workshops, providing tools and equipment for members to work with, and somewhere to socialise and discuss ideas. Hackerspaces are a bit like an artists' collective, a bit like a lab, and are grassroots community orgs sustained by membership contribution. As some of you may know, for the last 18 months, we've been looking for a permanent space, and we now have one, located in WASPS South Block. We've been open for a little while now, and we're holding an opening party, to launch the space!
We've started filling the space up with furniture and equipment, and we're excited to let you see it!
# Event structure
We will present a talk, at around 5 p.m., introducing hackerspaces, and how we got to where we are, and what we hope to do.
There will be snacks and refreshments. Club Maté will be available. Donations are welcome, and we are also open to membership applications!
# Getting here
Our address is 60 Osbourne Street. The entrance is between the plant shop and the building reception. (Latter will be closed as it's a weekend.)
When you arrive, send us a message on Discord or IRC, and someone will come down to let you in.
