Front End Sheffield: March 2023 - New venue

Remember: our new venue is now: Charles Street Building (Room 12.4.12) - Sheffield Hallam University.
120 Charles St, Sheffield, S1 2NE, England

You'll need to sign-in at the security desk, but look for FES signs up into the lift and the 4th floor.

This is just around the corner from our old venue at Sheffield Tech Parks.

Our event is free and inclusive; we welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels to join. We will be checking in people at the door so be sure to sign up online.

This month we'll be welcoming:

Lex Lofthouse - Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good

Perfection, achieving the best possible result and making something free of all faults and imperfections. But in an industry that is so subjective, how are we supposed to achieve perfect?

Are we letting the quest for perfection slow us down, are we bound by a curse that let’s us get close but never quite there? Personally I don’t think perfect is an attainable goal, in fact I think ‘good’ is a much better goal to strive for. I'll talk through some tips from my experience as a designer, but with relevance to developers, artists and anyone within the web industry. Let’s talk about how to get there instead, and be ok with the idea of good.

Colin Richardson - Strapi - a NodeJS Headless CMS

As FE Dev's we need API's/Data that allow us to really test our Front-Ends, but we have to rely on others to do that, or have to wait for someone to most of the time. Now though, in a matter of minutes you can have your back-end with API, with documentation and with data. Welcome to Strapi.

Post-meetup social
After the talks we'll head to socialise at the nearby Triple Point Brewery + Bar. They serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus food from Twisted Burger Co. See triplepointbrewing.co.uk for more details.
