Sheffield Women in Tech (ShfWIT): Mind the Gap: Negotiating Your Pay - the ShfWIT guide

An online event exploring how you can approach this challenging discussion from three different perspectives.

We have all heard the stats and seen the news: there's a gender pay gap. Women earn up to 28% less than their male colleagues in the same tech roles. While there are complex, structural forces at play we can all make the most of any opportunity to advocate for ourselves as we talk about our pay with employers.

Join us for a look at how you can approach negotiating your pay. We will take on three different perspectives that we hope will strengthen your hand and confidence when thinking about having this discussion: the recruiter, the employer and the personal coach.

We will be joined by three incredible local women who have expertise and advice to share from these different standpoints:

Louisa Harrison-Walker will use her extensive knowledge of and insight into the tech recruitment market to discuss why knowing your value is a powerful tool in your arsenal.

Cherry Limb is HR Manager at 3squared and understands that everything always comes down to people. She will use her experience to provide an employer perspective and remind us that there is another human being at the other side of this conversation.

Amanda Cookson, experienced and insightful coach and HR /Leadership consultant, will talk about how to have difficult conversations and ways you can help build your case. She will even share a toolkit that you can takeaway from the event.

We will hear from speakers before engaging in a panel discussion based on audience questions.
